Day 277

I tried a different meditation guide last night; Deep Sleep Induction. I don’t really remember much of it but I did get about 7 hours sleep, so I’m going to call it a success!

Today is the first day of the weekend for us and it’s always a day of relaxing for hubby and a day of WoW for me. My Sunday is still missing something. While it wasn’t a bad day, it really wasn’t a good day either BUT today’s 30 day; New Year, New You Challenge is to ‘think about the positives’ so I will focus on the good parts.

One good part is today’s Adventures of Arthur Puddles. We find him taking his first ‘flight’ with the help of some sweet little red birds for National Bird Day.

The creator of Inktober will be emailing a weekly prompt to help keep up the inking skills. I’ll be adding the prompt to one day’s adventure each week. This week’s prompt is ‘flight’. It fit in so perfectly with today’s Puddles plan.

I spent most of the day playing WoW. It was just a healer friend and me for most of it, with a couple of other friends joining for one dungeon. The hardest part of WoW today was being constantly bugged for a ‘selfie’ through one of the dungeons. I generally don’t cross my real life with my gaming life. Lately I have been more open but it still makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Once that was all wrapped up I got a face full of French. I did much better today and remembered how to spell ‘dejeuner’. (You can tell I typed it because it doesn’t have the accent!!)

I didn’t mention yesterday’s 30 day; New Year, New You Challenge because….wait for it…. I forgot! Luckily I messaged someone special so I achieved yesterday’s goal.

I hope you’ve had an outstanding weekend filled with sunshine, fun and friends.

Day 183

I woke up around 6 am-ish and frowned. I would really like to sleep until the alarm goes off. I’ve been getting less and less sleep this week and I don’t like it.

I rolled onto the sofa and poked at a cup of coffee. After some time, I did my timed French practice on Duolingo. It was an okay practice. Some rounds were very good, other rounds were not so good. It was definitely the tiredness that hindered my progress.

By 8.30 am, hubby had scurried off to work and I scurried back to bed. I couldn’t push myself to workout or even be awake. I napped until about 1 pm and woke to still feel sleepy. I was tempted to stay in bed but I really did want to get something done with the day.

That something was the Inktober prompt; 3. Bait. I’d been thinking about this prompt as I was falling asleep and wanted to draw a Bait Shop. I found an amazing photo by Ted Engler of Fredrickson Bait Shop and used that as my reference.

After doing the lead sketch, I was a bit disappointed I wouldn’t be using watercolours on it. It was on the wrong paper, so there really was no chance to change it. So I grabbed my Tombow inks and went for it. The one thing I’m enjoying is that once you draw a line, it’s done. You can’t change it 100 times. That is also scary and horrible when you draw a line you don’t want. I like the roughness of this sketch.

The only other creative was a little guitar practice and I worked some more on the knitting project. I think it’s still going well. Hubby seems pretty excited about them and is already putting in an order for a beanie, scarf and pyjama onesie type thing with a butt flap!

Today I also cut and coloured my hair. I haven’t been to a hairdresser since I was about 22. I have cut and coloured it (mostly) black myself since then.

When I was little I had very long hair and I hated it. I would always wear it up and would never brush it. Once a month my mum would sit me down, with a comb and a pair of scissors, and she’d spend hours fixing my hair.

Then when I was around 20 I decided to have easy, care-free short hair. I didn’t need a hairdresser for that. When you have a very short cut, it can be as messy as you want and people think you’re doing something purposely stylish.

Now I have decided to keep my hair around shoulder length, so I can still wear it up and I’ve dyed it a chocolate brown like my natural colour. I even gave myself a cute fringe (bangs.) It feels so nice to have it done.

That was my day. I didn’t get enough done but that’s okay. As I always say; Doing something is more than nothing.

I hope your day is filled with light, love and laughter.

Day 182

5.30 am was the start of the day and I object. It was far too early to be awake but I knew there was no way I would get back to sleep. I sat. I stared. I contemplated Inktober and Doodlewash (but not long enough to realise I could have done them together.) Then I played WoW until about 9 am when i knew I had to be the day.

It was time for a workout and my body said, I OBJECT. (Today is proudly sponsored by the words… I object.) Everything was aching before I had even started, so I started anyways. There were almost tears but I fought on like a champ and we got through the work out in 24 minutes.

The first stop on the creative train was the Doodlewash – October 2019 prompt; 1. Onions. I found a picture of red onions to reference. I used watercolour pencils.

The next stop was the Inktober 2019 prompt; 1. Ring. I have already seen some aaaaamazing sketches for this prompt. Some people have used the prompt in ways I couldn’t even imagine. I was feeling intimidated by working with ink, so I went for something very simple. A ring of flowers… that may or may not be wreath like. It’s a ring, I swear.

The last stop on the sketching train was the Inktober prompt; 2. Mindless. I really didn’t know where to go with this prompt but had an urge to do a zombie. When I finally Googled ‘mindless zombie, I found there was a NPC in WoW with the same name. So, I did that.

The sketching took up a big chunk of the day. Once I was done, I was done. My early morning had caught up with me and I had to crawl back into bed for a nap. It sure was a lovely nap followed by an equally lovely dinner.

Tomorrow I’ll hopefully get caught up on this month’s challenges, get some guitar practice in and write a food plan for the upcoming week.

I hope you have had a delicious day filled with things to nourish your mind, body and soul.
