Day 138

I had a little sleep in and it was lovely. Once out of bed I got straight to today’s Doodlewash – August 2019 drawing prompts; 4. Sailing + 19. Waves. (I’m doubling up on prompts so I can still finish at the end of the month.)

The concept of this drawing was easy, a boat on waves. The reality of drawing it was much harder than I expected. I took inspiration from many photos and drawings of this subject. Once I got started it all came together quickly and I feel like this drawing is something I’d like to try painting one day.

Doodlewash – August 2019 on Three Peas, One Pod

My afternoon started with a handful of housework. Normally, in the week before wifey arrives it’s a whirlwind of catch up cleaning and generally trying not to look like we were raised by wolves in the wild. Today we looked around the house and were pleasantly surprised at how little we had to do. It’s almost like we’re adults!!

Once back at the computer I spent a couple of hours going through art blogs. I am obsessed with watercolour art at the moment. It looks so peaceful and calming, with mostly muted and soft colours. I can’t wait to get my hands on some. There are so many amazing and creative people out there. It was very inspiring.

I finished the day with 200 xp points during my French practice. Tomorrow I will start on a new bank of ‘people’ words. I’m kinda terrible at learning. I KNOW that I don’t know the stuff, that’s why I’m learning it but I still get annoyed and frustrated when I don’t know the stuff. I’ll try and leave my frustration under the bed tomorrow and have at it with a good attitude.

I’ve been blogging for a while now but haven’t really dived into a lot of the finer details about my life. I feel like I’m wanting to share some of my past and how I’m working on feeling better about it. It seems it has been unfolding in my mind for a few weeks now. I’m gaining some clarity on my behaviours. This week I’m going to try writing down how I’m feeling. Also, I’ll try and finish my ‘About Me’ page. It has been ignored for a little too long. Oops.

Day 67

After a much needed sleep in, hubby and I got about our day with a quick breakfast and a yummy coffee. Once that was done we started on our spring clean of the kitchen.

The goal was to get the whole kitchen done, we were a little off the mark. There was twice the amount of work we had thought and most of it took longer than planned. What we did get done is looking great.

My favourite job of the day was re organising the ‘unopened food’ cupboard. Making it so organised and having things lined up, is so deeply satisfying.

Kitchen Spring Clean: Part 1

Things we got done today;
– Washed dishes.
– Cleaned the exhaust fan cover and the light cover.
– Threw away out of date food, cleaned and re organised the unopened food cupboard.
– Cleaned and re organised the open food cupboard.
– Cleaned the tableware shelf.
– Got rid of old appliances.
– Cleaned the microwave.
– Gave the oven a good scrubbing. (Not fully clean yet)
– Cleaned the cutlery and cooking tool drawers.

Things left to do;
– Clean fridge.
– Clean and organise overhead cupboard.
– Clean on top of cupboards.
– Clean the microwave shelf.
– Organise appliances.
– Organise pots and pans cupboard.
– Organise and get rid of items from a small cupboard that has been untouched for years.
– Organise the cleaning cupboard under the sink.

Once the cleaning was done it was time for French refreshers. Hubby has been taking more of an interest in learning, so we did the refresher together. The first practice run was perfect. It was exciting. The next couple had things I couldn’t remember. I was also having trouble understanding some of the spoken prompts.

We also spent a lot of time talking through the day about how to improve our lives. Seeing I’m now two months into my life changing journey, I thought it might be good for hubby to set some goals. I’m looking forward to see what he’d like to achieve in the next two years.

Knowing how important it is to set goals, we’re going to start a weekly happiness challenge. Every Tuesday, I will post a list from myself, hubby and wifey, of 10 things we can do through the week, that will make us feel happier. There is no punishment, there is no failure. There is just the opportunity to be focused and actively working on our happiness. At the end of the week, I’ll update how good we’ve done with our goals. I know it’s not a competition but I’m totally going to win happiness.

Tomorrow is going to be a chill day. I’ll be doing mythic dungeons in WoW through the morning and the afternoon will be spent with wifey. I’ll finish the day with some French and a little knitting.

Day 40

It was a slow start to the day. Coffee and chats was about all we could muster up after a sleep in. While hubby made a delicious lunch, I worked out. Only the single workout to get me back into the swing of it. Double workouts for the next five days!

The afternoon was spent spring cleaning the bedrooms and a little other housework. I also spent a good amount of time looking at amazing things on Pinterest. I have seen so many creative projects and nautical decor that make the inner me squeal with excitement. Check out my Pinterest Boards.

Tomorrow I’ll workout twice and paint or draw. Plus it’ll be the second instalment of the Photo Challenge. Fun!! If I get any spare time I’ll get back to knitting.

Day 38

Another day has gone by and I’ve thought, ‘I’ve done nothing today.’ That is just plain untrue.

My day started with meditation. Not my best attempt but definitely not my worst. Then I worked out twice. It kind of blows my mind to think I’ve already worked out 10 times this week. Then topped off my morning with housework.

So the only thing my day really was missing is a heaping of creative. Although, technically if I blog and answer today’s writing challenge question, I could say I have done a little of the creative. Okay, so that could be a bit of a stretch but I’m still mildly content with my day.

Not sure what to put on my to do list for tomorrow. I haven’t been feeling the creative, so that will most likely mean feeling the housework!

Day 5: List 5 place you want to visit.

  1. The US. It would be great to see where wifey lives and go to all the places she loves and has enjoyed during her life. (It’d be a big trip.)
  2. New Zealand (again.) It’s such a beautiful, clean, breath of fresh air. It wouldn’t matter where in NZ, as long as we got to stop by Bully Hayes in Akaroa. It’s my favourite place to eat in NZ.
  3.  A beach-side resort in Vanuatu. For my 30th birthday we went on a South Pacific Cruise. We ported in Vanuatu on my birthday and I got a massage at a resort. It was an amazing place that I would love to go back to and experience on a daily basis.
  4. France. Between the Tour de France and The Hairy Bikers (both get a lot of air time in our house), I know there is so much to see from little towns brimming with history and rich culture baked into a delicious bread.
  5. Somewhere with snow, where I can do all the fun snow related stuff.

Day 28

It was another brilliant morning. I got my workout done first. Pushed myself a little harder than normal and I’ve been feeling it all day. It’s been a nice ache compared to the every day aches. Then, I spent forever in the kitchen cleaning. I definitely need to find an easier way to clean older baking pans.

While I didn’t feel down by the afternoon, I was feeling tired. I think I’ve been starting to feel a bit stressed about my progress and haven’t been sleeping the best. I napped. It was glorious.

Tomorrow I’m going to do some research on meditation and try and find a fun every day photo challenge type… thing!

Day 26

Today has been a great day. The first thing I did was a workout. Really proud of myself for adding the extra day to my workout schedule. I imagine pretty soon I’ll be doing it 7 days a week, a couple of times a day. I’m determined to see results and just want to get there a little quicker than originally planned.

Hubby and I got some boxes unpacked, a little house stuff done and ate some amazing food. I can’t wait to start sharing some of my favourite recipes but it is a daunting task. Recipes are not the easiest thing to write. Although, I’m really looking forward to taking food pics. It’s always been something I’ve enjoyed, long before it was cool.

My craft supplies are on their way. It should only be a few days now and I can start some new art projects. I’ll try and pick some projects over the next couple of days. Learning how to read a knitting pattern could be helpful.

I’m still having some ‘motivation’ issues. The real problem is thinking I need some of it to get anything done. I read this great quote about motivation. My goal this week is to apply it.
