Yesterday morning hubby got up in the roof to do what he could for the leaks. We had a rain heavy day forecast. It was a success. He plugged the holes enough, placed some buckets strategically and we didn’t see a drip or wet patch on the ceiling all day. It was lucky, we ended up getting 100 mm of rain.
During the night the weather didn’t ease up, it got worse. In some parts of New South Wales it was the worst storms they’ve had in 30 years. There were very strong winds and another 70 mm of rain for us. Luckily we had no flooding. We did lose one of the trees in the back yard though.
The frangipani plants survived the night okay, although some flowers did fall off.
We put the fallen flowers into a glass of water. It’s made the living room smell lovely.
It was a pretty humid day (thanks to all the rain) so I didn’t really get a lot done. I doodled and I Puddled.
My 10 minute doodle was inspired by the letter ‘E’. I had an idea for an Easter Egg. It didn’t really turn out how I thought it would.
In today’s Adventures of Arthur Puddles we find him singing in the….sun with his umbrella for National Umbrella Day. He’s enjoying being outside now the rain has passed.
Hubby is back to work tomorrow and I’m going to have an art and learning filled week. I was pretty happy with how many watercolour practices I did last week, so I’ll aim for more this week.

Your husband is quite a handy man. 170 mm of rain is a lot for any roof to handle.

Yes, he surprised both of us. He’d been putting it off for years because he didn’t think he could do it. I’m glad he found the confidence to try. It was a huge relief.

Yes, it was a big relief to both of us when those drips stopped!! xD We got even more rain after that. It’s definitely a big help.

So out of curiosity- is this storm system hitting NSW like the Nor’easters we get here in the Atlantic seaboard? They usually hit in fall- spring but occasionally in summer to. Stay dry- and cool 😎

The humidity is really peaking with all this rain, so staying cool is hard.
These volumes of rain aren’t common at all in Summer. The climate really seems to be changing where I live. Our summers were much dryer when I was growing up. It’s much more tropical now.

Interesting 🤔 the winter we are having here feels much more like what I remember they were in the late 1990’s- mild to cool and really rainy and foggy- barely n e snow and not really cold.

So it seems temperatures are rising all the way round! Our winters are very mild now. Last winter we didn’t even need to use a heater. A few blankets and we were set.

Overall yes- but apparently this year- for us at least – a strong jet stream is keeping the cold up north with the eskimos- giving us lots o f rain and Europe lots of nasty winter storms.
