It was a slow start to the day. A very slow start.
Yesterday I was excited about the idea of creating art for myself instead of following a prompt. Today it felt completely overwhelming and scary, with a hint of confusing. Luckily I had found a photo of a row of colourful houses in Cartagena, Colombia that I wanted to try. I tried.

I also did the Inktober 2019 prompt; 30. Catch. I was tempted to do something involving hands. I like sketching hands. I went to Unsplash for inspiration and stumbled upon a spiderweb. I got caught up in its beauty and used that as my reference.

I did a few French practice runs. It was another good day. I remembered lots of things that I haven’t had to say for a while. I can’t imagine I’ll want to be learning too much next week, so the practice will continue.
Tomorrow I’ll do the last day of Inktober and that’s about it. Departure day is looming closer and I want to do things with wifey that will help her relax.
I hope you’re having a wonderfully creative week.

The street scene reminds me of one the illustrations in this French for first time travelers book we got. I highly recommend it- it’s called “Rendez-vous with France a la Jill Butler”- it’s chapters are divided up into normal situations (like driving or going to the market) with lots of illustrations of objects with their French name and how to pronounce them.

That sounds like a very helpful book. ^^ And now you’ve said that is what my watercolour reminds you of, I feel I would like to attempt some French streetscapes. Very helpful!! Thanks.
